Starting the school year off on the right foot can make all the difference!
Here are some tips to consider as you get back in the swing of things at WCU:

1) GET PREPARED. Make sure you get all the school supplies, textbooks, and materials that you need. Sykes and Dynamic bookstores are great places to check out! Whether you are living in a residence hall or off-campus, make sure you have all the necessities of comfortable living.

2) GET ORGANIZED. Buy a planner, or use your cell or Google calendar to keep track of your assignments, meetings or work schedule. Create a weekly (or daily) “to-do” list to balance your tasks.

3) GET TO CLASS. Resist the urge to hit the snooze button on your alarm for those early morning classes. Try keeping your alarm clock far enough from your bed that you actually have to get up to turn it off! Save your skips for emergencies or sick days. Listening to lectures helps you learn the material better, and going to class keeps you up-to-date on assignments and tests.

4) GET SLEEP. Set a sleep schedule. Going to sleep and waking up at the same time each day creates a healthy pattern and makes it easier to get out of bed in the morning. Try to get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep each night.

5) GET HEALTHY. A new school year is a fresh start. Set a scheduled time for 30 minutes of exercise at least 3 days a week. Introduce healthy options into your diet, such as fruits, vegetables, and more water.

6) GET INVOLVED. Become an active part of your campus community by joining clubs, intramural sports teams, fraternities, sororities, or any organization that interests you. This is a great way to make new friends, meet new people, network, and build your resume. Check out the upcoming Involvement Fair on September 4th in the academic quad from 11-3.
